    Textile Recycling
Generates $$$ for the PTOs - City saves $$$ on disposal fees - Helps the environment

The Bay State Textiles Recycling Rebate Program is happening  through out the Peabody Public Schools; collection boxes have been installed at each school. The focus of the program is to spread awareness to the problem of textile waste while generating revenue for the schools.  The program offers a rebate of $100 per ton for the textiles collected.  The beneficiary of the rebate will be the individual school PTO's.   Please note that the bin has been moved to the opposite side of the school, by the gymnasium.

    Textile Recycling

There are 520 MILLION pounds of textiles that end up in landfills and incinerators each year in Massachusetts of which 95% can be recycled.  This costs taxpayers thousands of dollars in disposal fees. The Beverly Public Schools have collected over 60,000 pounds generating over $3,000.00 for the Beverly PTO's since the launch of their program in May.

The rebate checks are disbursed monthly for the month prior.  For example you should receive the November rebate payment by the middle of December.  The checks are done on line and have to be cashed with in ninety days or the check is returned to Bay State Textiles so please make your school office aware that the checks will be coming and cash the check in a timely manner.
